religious instruction
To fulfill the mission and philosophy of Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic School, our students are taught religion in addition to the core subjects. Through religious instruction, all students regardless of their associated religion, learn about the Catholic faith, its values and practices with the hope of fostering individuals that make a positive difference in the world.
class retreats
All students will participate in at least one class retreat during the school year planned by the teacher and comes at no additional cost to parents.
weekly & monthly masses
Our school community gathers together once a week to attend mass. Weekly masses are typically held on Fridays, however please review the school calendar for the exact dates and times as these may vary. Parents, family members, and friends are welcome to join us for mass. Our school masses come with opportunities for students to serve as altar servers with proper training, or as part of the choir with after school practices.
In addition to weekly masses, our school participates in a monthly Adoration/reconciliation services as well as family mass on Sundays. Each grade is in charge of leading mass one month of the school year. During this month, students (parents for the lower grades) will be responsible for the readings during weekly and monthly masses. The teacher whose grade is responsible that month will help train the students and provide practice sessions before the mass day. Families are required to attend family masses as students receive a religion participation grade for attending. Students, their parents, family members, and friends are welcome to join on all the family mass days.
Please review our school calendar for the exact weekly mass dates. The monthly Sunday family mass dates are listed below.

reconciliation services
Once a month, priests from our parish of Santa Rosa de Lima Church offer reconciliation services (confession) for students in the 3rd-8th grades who have received the Sacrament of First Communion. Participating in confession is encouraged but completely optional for students.
sacrament of first communion
As part of being at a Catholic education, students have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of First Communion if they have been baptized and have attended school at Santa Rosa de Lima for two years. Students typically receive this sacrament in the 2nd grade, however transferring students of any grade are eligible once they complete their two years at the school and are baptized. Since religion is a subject taught as part of the catholic school curriculum, our students are well prepared to know the meaning of and to receive this holy sacrament.

Prayer during covid-19

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe,
Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas. We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana. Pray for us, loving Mother, and again for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen. |
